Restitution of confiscated properties, free use of minority symbols, proper application and extension of minority rights are just a few aspects included in the agreement signed by the RMDSZ and the newly established government coalition inBucharest.
„The RMDSZ expects that the government will support the legislative and amendment proposals of the Alliance. First we want to make the necessary corrections in the processes of applying the laws in act to guarantee the application of language rights and free use of symbols. Secondly, we need to secure and extend the currently available minority rights. No collaboration has any meaning outside these terms. We were looking for partners to work with in order to keep the promises we have made during our campaign.” – explained RMDSZ President Hunor Kelemen right after signing the parliamentary collaborations agreement. .
Besides the use of minority rights the content of the agreement also refers to the application of the law on education, administrative decentralization, rasing the wages for civil servants and the completion of the North-Transylvanian highway.
„We are acquainted with the new governmental programme and we trust that it will also reflect our proposals accepted during the negotiations. We have agreed on a four-year parliamentary collaboration under these terms and we will evaluate compliance after every parliamentary session” – said President Hunor Kelemen adding that the legislative power needs to return to the Parliament so that the institution can earn back its prestige. „The agreement also implies that the government coalition shall always negotiate with the RMDSZ about all legislative proposals and executive measures including the budget proposal for 2017” – he said.
The President of the RMDSZ emphasized that the agreement is valid only if the parties respect their obligations.
